Jacqueline de Jonge About Jacqueline de Jonge

After winning the Color Trophy of the Open European Quilt Championship in 2004, Jacqueline started her BeColourful pattern line in the Netherlands.

Jacqueline became interested in quilt making in 1978. She loves to make quilts, and tries to reach a level of perfection, not to show people how hard she can work, or to show people that she is a perfectionist in her designs and color choices, but because she loves to make beautiful quilts and enjoys working on her designs. Her goal is to inspire quilters all over the world with her beautiful and colorful designs. Her quilts are based on traditional designs, but with a contemporary and colorful twist. Since 2004 she has lectured and conducted workshops throughout the United States, Canada, Australia and Europe. Jacqueline designs her own patterns, she also has her own Batik line of Fabric designed by her.

Meet Sue Spargo, Contemporary Quilt Artist Southern Africa had a considerable influence on Sue’s creativity. She was born in Zambia and then educated in South Africa. She is still influenced by the energy and color of traditional African designs. Later Sue moved to England; this shift between two very different environments also inspires many of her designs. All these early experiences combined to stir her love of “primitive” arts and crafts and grew into a focus on contemporary folk-art. The United States had always beckoned and in 1989 that dream was fulfilled. Sue moved to Connecticut and subsequently to Tennessee, Utah and Ohio. Each new state presented sharp contrasts and stirred more new ideas. With each move she was influenced by many wonderful, quilt enthusiasts.
